    ASIAN BUSINESS
Sard Verbinnen & Co (“SVC”), a leading global strategic, financial and crisis communications consultancy, today announced it has established a presence in Asia with the opening of a full-service office in Hong Kong. The new office is being led by Ron Low, a longtime Silicon Valley-based SVC partner who has relocated to Hong Kong, and Rick Carew, formerly The Wall Street Journal’s Asia Finance and Deals editor based in Hong Kong, who has joined SVC as a Managing Director. SVC is already well established in Asia with large clients, including Alibaba Group, Ant Financial, Didi Chuxing, Grab, HNA Group, Nikon, Takata, SoftBank and Samsung, among others. The firm, which last year was ranked number one by Mergermarket in North American for M&A deal volume, also has been one of the top communications firms by transaction volume in Asia each of the last several years.

INDIA BUSINESS
Japanese electronics and instrumentation major Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation has announced its entry into the Indian solar market, in collaboration with Mumbai-headquartered CleanMax Solar India. The two companies will “jointly offer high-end rooftop solar solutions to Japanese companies across India.”
CleanMax Solar’s Managing Director, Kuldeep Jain, told BusinessLine today that the MoU is “the first step towards a long term partnership structure”.
At this point in time, the two companies are operating on a “pre-agreed profit sharing model,” Jain said.
The role of Hitachi High-Tech in the partnership will include approaching Japanese clients and supplying solar PV panels. The possibility of low-cost Japanese financing has also been hinted at.
CleanMax Solar specialises in setting up rooftop solar plants. It has set up over 200 plants, totalling over 80 MW. The company, founded in 2011, also works on ‘opex model’, where it sets up the plant at its own cost on the customers’ roofs and sells only the energy. Its customers include marquee names such as Tata Communications, HCL, Nestle, Hines, SKF, Tata Coffee, Tata Motors, GE, HCL, Pune University, Manipal Univesity, Mahindra World City, Konecrames and Bangalore International Airport Ltd.
With this experience, CleanMax brings to the table its expertise in developing, building and maintaining solar projects in India, said Jain, an IIM-Ahmedabad alumnus and a former McKinsey executive.

ODISHA BUSINESS
IT services & outsourcing company Tech Mahindra has announced its plan to set up its third campus in Odisha in 2018.
C P Gurnani, managing director and chief executive officer of Tech Mahindra met Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik and said work on the third campus would commence in 2018. Presently, the IT firm has started work on its second campus. Gurnani also said Tech Mahindra would assist the state government in the efforts made to promote start-ups in the state.
Earlier, Tech Mahindra had announced to scale up headcount at its Bhubaneswar centre to 5,000. The headcount would be a mix of IT and ITes (IT enabled services). The company also had an intent to set up a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) centre in the city. Tech Mahindra’s existing infrastructure in Bhubaneswar can house about 3,000 employees. Its campus is spread over six acres of land.
