BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
Leading bot platform Gupshup on Monday announced the launch of InterBot, a first of its type bot-to-bot communication platform aiming to revolutionise botkind.
With the power to communicate with each other, robots or simply bots will be able to transact, co-ordinate, compete, collaborate and negotiate with each other.
Interbot communications enable many new possibilities. For instance, shopping bots can negotiate with merchant bots to find the best prices; a taxi bot can ask the cafe bot to have the coffee ready by the time the user's taxi arrives; personal assistant bots can schedule meetings on behalf of humans. Bots can form groups and hierarchies to improve decision-making within the enterprise.
"InterBot unleashes endless possibilities that lead to more intelligent bots and systems. Just as the human civilization harnesses the collective power of individual humans, InterBot enables bots to perform collective action dramatically amplifying individual bot capabilities. InterBot represents one small step for bot, one giant step for botkind," said Beerud Sheth, CEO, Gupshup.
Inter-bot communication offers new capabilities that are difficult to create with APIs. Unlike APIs, bots can be asynchronous and bi-directional. Bots can enable distributed computing in ways that APIs cannot.
To use InterBot, bots will first have to publish themselves on this new channel. These bots can exchange services and learn from each other. Developers can now create bots by connecting them with each other, like Lego blocks, where the output of one bot becomes the input of the next.
Humans and bots can come together to create intelligent hybrid solutions better than either can alone. Developers can use InterBot to create a mega-bot to perform complex tasks that could be impossible for an individual bot.
Gradually, bots will become smarter, self-healing and reproductive. Bots will become smarter by asking other bots for help when they need it. They will self-improve or self-heal by replacing components with newer and better component when it emerges. Bots will be able to produce or reproduce other bots through bot composition.

INDIA BUSINESS
After Google’s entry into Indian food delivery sector with Aero, the world’s largest cab aggregator Uber is looking to do the same with its UberEATS service set to launch in India in the second quarter of the current financial year.
Powered by the same technology that makes its transport mobile app efficient and cost-effective, ordering food from UberEATS will most likely be as easy as requesting a ride.
Not only will it give consumers, restaurant partners, and delivery partners more options, restaurants can even register themselves in order to reach out to more customers.
The launch will be headed by Manan Javeri, former McKinsey executive who joined Uber in 2015, reported The Economic Times. He will most likely directly report to Uber's Asia Pacific head Allen Penn.
UberEATS has been hiring city general managers, city-level restaurant operations managers as well as branding and sales heads across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Chennai and Gurugram, the report added.
The US-based company had started UberEATS in 2014 as a small delivery pilot in Los Angeles. Since then, it has been expanded to become a stand-alone app. It is currently available in 58 cities globally, including Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Taipei.
"I am incredibly excited about bringing UberEATS to India. This is a significant investment, it spans across multiple cities and regions, and it has the potential to change the food industry - with the push of a button - in one of the most vibrant food cultures in the world," UberEATS Asia Pacific Head Allen Penn said in a blog post.
This comes at a time when major food delivery chains, including Zomato and Swiggy are looking to expand their business nationally. Similarly, food applications and websites like FreshMenu, Faasos, Holachef are rapidly marking their footprints in Mumbai, Bengaluru and other cities.

SUPPLY CHAIN

Apple Inc. is responsible for the health or mortal sickness of the cottage industry of companies that make parts for iPhones or assemble them. It turns out Apple can also be hurt by the interconnected supply chain.
On tap starting this fall will be a shift from two new versions of the iPhone to three. The two expected in Apple’s typical September launch window will be updated versions of the iPhone 7 and its larger-screen sibling, the iPhone 7 Plus.
The big deal for this year—the 10th anniversary of the iPhone—is a drastically different new phone with a more vibrant type of screen and extra real estate, thanks to slimmer frames around the edges. Wall Street has already grown excited that this reimagined iPhone will set off a rush of people splurging for a cool new iPhone with a big ticket price.
